~Candy Apples~

Ingredients
 
4 cups white sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 1/2 cups water
about 25 medium apples
25 popsicle sticks

red food colouring (to be added later)

 

Method
 

Wash apples and remove stems. Put popsicle sticks in blossom end, make sure to push through to the bottom. Spread out sheets of waxed paper on cookie sheets.

Mix all ingredients together (except food colouring) and heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Boil to hard crack stage (320 F) Remove from heat (or turn very low) Allow to cool slightly and add red food colouring (I use the whole bottle) Dip apples when the syrup is smooth (no bubbles) Place hot apples on waxed paper and allow to cool and harden. Store in the refrigerator.
